Kurset vil vise hvordan gjennomtenkt valg av scaler-tipper og presise teknikker kan forbedre både klinisk effektivitet og pasientresultater.
Gjennom demonstrasjoner og praktiske øvelser lærer du:

◆ optimal bruk av ultralydscalere: valg av tipper, effektinnstillinger og teknikk
◆ hvordan utnytte nye hjelpemidler for en mer forutsigbar behandling (praktisk gjennomgang av Labida BioClean)

Clinical Research Fellow & Clinical Teacher in Periodontology

Dr Claire McCarthy graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2000 and joined King’s College London (KCL) in 2004. She holds a Master’s in Higher and Professional Education from UCL (2007) and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2008. She completed a PhD in Clinical Dentistry at KCL in 2024, focusing on aerosol prevention and ultrasonic device performance, receiving the KCL Outstanding Thesis Award.
Based at Guy’s Hospital, she has led BDS1 and BDS2 Periodontology at KCL for eight years and currently teaches and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students. She is Co-Principal Investigator on projects related to ultrasonic instrumentation, aerosol reduction, and implant decontamination, and is part of the 2025 MedTech Accelerator cohort in collaboration with the London Institute of Healthcare Engineering.
Her academic interests include pedagogy, clinical education, and behavioural approaches to oral hygiene. In 2025, she received a KCL teaching award for student support and was invited to present AI-driven curriculum innovations at the University of Brescia. She received the 2020 Robin Davies Research Award for her work on peri-implant mucositis.
Claire chairs the Accreditation Committee of the Irish Dental Council, serves as an external assessor for Malta’s MFHEA, and has held four terms on the BSDHT Council. She is a Faculty Member of the British Society of Periodontology (2024), a Fellow of the College of General Dentistry (2023), and has been a Visiting Scholar at NYU College of Dentistry since 2014. In 2025, she was appointed staff president of the KCL Dental Society.
